Here is a blurry picture of me at a party in my 50's dress serving ice cream and feeling incredibly cool. |
About me’s are hard to do. There are a good number of things to say about myself that are not relevant at all. Like I obsessively know the words to all broadways songs. For real. But don’t leave yet because that’s not what this blog is about. Officially, it is a blog about international cuisine and immigrant culture in Lexington, Kentucky. Which we do actually have. In reality, it is my 200-hour mentoring project which I am
Here is some background (which is not necessary to know but
I want to tell you):
·
My name is Sophia Whitman Sandmeyer.
·
This blog would probably be going nowhere fast
without the guidance and help of my mentor, John Foster. He is even letting me
mooch off of his connections. And I am incredibly grateful.
·
I got the name for this blog from my friend
Lukas. He also helped me named a cat I saw on the side of the road. (Liza for a
girl and Salvador Dali for a boy.)
·
I am a high school senior and I decided it would
be fun to slowly kill myself this year so I’m taking six AP classes. So far,
Miracle Max would say I am only partly dead. I’ll keep you updated.
·
My sophomore year I spent in Neu-Anspach,
Germany where I learned German, seven phrases in French, and how to say potato
in Spanish.
·
I like to cook but mostly I love to eat. This
blog is pretty much a means to an end to fill my stomach. I picked
international food because I like it. A lot. And by it, I mean all food except
for brains. (That story later.)
·
If I had to describe myself it would be classy
and sassy. For a couple reasons. First, and most importantly, they rhyme.
Second, over three people have called me classy, so it must be true. And third,
I aspire to be sassy but right now I am stuck with sasssy’s awkward wannabe
cousin that is not nearly as cool. I'm working on it.
·
This is a warning: I read a lot of books-I like
the classics. I watch even more TV-I’m slightly addicted to it all. I may
reference them. And most likely in a way that only I understand. I apologize.
